Softball Falls in Home Doubleheader Against Pioneers

BELOIT, WI – On a competitive Saturday afternoon at Strong Softball Field, the Beloit College Buccaneers displayed significant grit and offensive power in a doubleheader against Carroll University (Wis.). Despite falling in both contests by identical scores of 7-4, the Buccaneers (2-18, 0-0 MWC) showcased a resilient lineup and home-run power that kept the Pioneers (12-8, 0-0 CCIW) on their toes until the final out.

Game 1: Beloit 4, Carroll 7

The opening game saw the Buccaneers mount a late-inning comeback that electrified the home crowd. Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth, Beloit's offense found its rhythm.

The inning was sparked by an Avary Briggs (Albany, Wis.) single and a Sydney Weisman (Brookfield, Wis.) base hit. With two runners on, first baseman Kaylee Witte (Poplar Grove, IL) delivered a clutch single to left field, driving in two runs to tie the game at 2-2.

In the sixth inning,Allie Gustafson (Beloit, Wis.) provided the highlight of the game, crushing a solo home run to center field. Beloit continued to fight in the seventh when Rachel Overocker (Tinley Park, IL) reached on an error, allowing Witte to cross the plate for the Buccaneers' fourth run. Witte finished the game as a standout performer, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a stolen base.

Game 2: Beloit 4, Carroll 7

The Buccaneers carried their momentum into the nightcap, jumping out to an early 3-1 lead in the first inning. Following a leadoff single by Witte, Gustafson sent her second home run of the day over the fence—a towering two-run blast that immediately put the Pioneers on notice.

The offensive pressure continued in the first as Allison Olson (Sandwich, IL) doubled down the left-field line to score Briggs. Olson was nearly unstoppable in Game 2, finishing a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles and an RBI.

Beloit's final run of the day came in the bottom of the sixth. After Ava Wiegel (Argyle, WI) doubled to right-center and Qitarra Olson (Onalaska, WI) entered to pinch run, Kaitlyn Nicholson (Roscoe, Ill) came through with an RBI single to bring the Buccaneers within striking distance.

The Buccaneers are back in action tomorrow in Kenosha for a doubleheader against the Carthage College Firebirds. First pitch from Wiers Family Stadium and Barbara Madrigrano Field is set for 12 pm
