Men's Lacrosse Drops First Road Test of the Season to Pioneers

WAUKESHA, WI – The Beloit College men's lacrosse team traveled to Waukesha this evening for a mid-week clash against Carroll University. Despite a high-energy start and a standout performance in the net, the Buccaneers ultimately fell to the Pioneers by a score of 12-3.

Beloit College wasted no time asserting themselves in the first quarter. Just under three minutes into the game, John Imbriale (Brooklyn, NY) found the back of the net unassisted at the 12:18 mark to score the first goal of the contest. The goal gave the Buccaneers an early 1-0 lead and provided an immediate spark for the visiting bench.

After Carroll responded with three straight goals, the Buccaneers' attack went back to work. At 4:17 in the first period, Rilan Larmore (Olympia, Wash.) capitalized on a sharp pass from Liam Walker (Elmhurst, Ill.) to narrow the deficit to 3-2. The clinical finish by Larmore highlighted a productive opening frame for the Beloit offense.

Senior attacker Liam Walker remained a focal point of the Buccaneers' strategy throughout the evening. In addition to his first-period assist, Walker capped off the scoring for Beloit in the fourth quarter. At the 5:47 mark, Walker muscled through the Pioneer defense to score an unassisted goal, his 12th of the season. Walker finished the night leading the team with two points (1 goal, 1 assist) and recorded three shots on goal.

While the final score favored the Pioneers, the story of the game was the heroic effort of Beloit goalkeeper Christian Moore (Dubuque, Iowa). Facing an unrelenting barrage of 63 shots from the Carroll offense, Moore put on a defensive clinic.

Moore turned away a staggering 22 saves over the course of 60 minutes. His resilience was most evident in the third quarter, where he recorded eight saves to keep the Buccaneers within striking distance. His 22-save performance kept the game competitive and showcased the defensive backbone of this Beloit squad.

The Buccaneers take an extended break before returning to the field on Saturday, March 14th in Rock Island, Illinois. The Bucs travel to Thorson-Lucken Field on the campus of Augustana College for a clash with the Vikings. Game time is set for 1 pm.
