VERONA, Wis. – The Beloit College women's lacrosse team traveled to Verona this evening for a NACC road test against Edgewood University. Despite a challenging 18-1 final score, the Buccaneers (0-14, 0-9 NACC) showed flashes of resilience, highlighted by a strong second-period performance.
The offensive highlight of the night for Beloit came late in the second period. With 2:21 remaining before halftime, the Buccaneers took advantage of a man-up situation following an Eagles' (7-10, 6-3 NACC) penalty. Menah Garcia (New Hope, Minn.) took charge, weaving through the defense to fire an unassisted shot past the Eagles' keeper. The goal was Garcia's first of the game and provided a much-needed spark for the Beloit sideline.
Garcia remained a focal point for the Buccaneer attack throughout the evening, leading the team with two shots on goal and maintaining pressure in the offensive third.
Under heavy pressure from an Edgewood offense that fired 35 shots, Beloit goalkeeper Kim Pilon (Birch Run, Mich.) stood tall in the net. Pilon played the full 60 minutes and recorded 9 saves, including several impressive stops on free-position attempts to keep the Buccaneers within striking distance during the middle frames.
Pilon was also active outside the crease, leading the team with 4 ground balls. She was supported defensively by Kylie Wolff (Alberta, Canada), who collected 3 ground balls, and Zoey Soost (Gillette, Wyoming), who led the team with 2 caused turnovers.
The Buccaneers found success in the center circle, particularly through the efforts of Willow Mashkuri (Middlesex, Vt.). Mashkuri led Beloit with 3 draw controls, helping the team secure possessions against a physical Edgewood midfield. Natasha Ludwig (Royalton) also contributed significantly to the transition game, securing 2 draw controls and adding a shot on goal.
This concludes the 2026 season for the Buccaneers.
