CHICAGO, Ill. —  Beloit College volleyball never trailed after the opening exchanges of any set this evening, rolling past Moody Bible 25-13, 25-22, 25-18 for a road sweep that lifted the Buccaneers to 2-3 on the season. The Archers fell to 0-5.

Beloit controlled the match at the service line and in the middle of the floor, finishing with 16 service aces against a Moody Bible passing group that was charged with 16 reception errors. The Buccaneers hit .217 as a team with 33 kills, while holding the Archers to .045 on 67 swings.

Madeline Holthaus (Saint Paul, MN) turned in the most complete night of anyone on the floor, posting a match-high nine kills on 17 attempts without much waste — a .412 clip — and adding 10 digs for a double-double, two aces and a solo block. Her 12 points were second on the team only because of what Naomi Murphy (Dubuque, Iowa) did from the service line.

Murphy led all players with 13 points, pairing seven kills with six aces. Three of those aces came in the first set alone during the run that broke the match open.

Setter Aaliyah Gerard (Aiea, HI) ran the offense for all three sets and distributed 17 assists with two aces of her own. Emily Ortiz (Aurora, IL) added nine assists in two sets of work, along with an ace and four digs, giving Beloit steady production out of both setter looks.

Daniela Perez (San Francisco, CA) was efficient on the pins with four kills on 10 swings (.400), Selin Tufte (Clarkdale, Ariz.) chipped in four kills and a solo block, and Madalyn Huizel (Faribault, MN) added three kills on .333 hitting. Kawailehua Kapuni-Lankford (Hilo, HI) went a perfect 2-for-2 in her single set of action. Adelaide Schmitt (Aurora, Colo.) anchored the back row with six digs.

Set 1 (25-13): Moody Bible actually struck first, taking a 3-0 lead on two Beloit attack errors and a Kiersten Lenox ace. It didn't last. A Murphy kill stopped the run, and after Maddisyn Adams (Stockett, MT) checked in to serve, Beloit reeled off five straight — back-to-back Holthaus kills followed by three consecutive Adams aces — for a 6-3 edge. The set was effectively over when Murphy took the ball at 7-5 and served Beloit through seven unanswered points, capped by a Perez kill, a Holthaus stuff of Olivia Clem and two more aces, to make it 14-5. Beloit closed on a 6-1 kick over the final stretch.

Set 2 (25-22): Gerard opened with a 5-0 service run, including two aces and kills by Huizel and Kyra Suiter-Meyers (Orfordville, Wis.). Moody Bible made this one interesting late, climbing within 21-19 on an Emerson DeVries service run and then to 24-22, but Holthaus ended both threats — she recorded the final two Beloit points of the set, including the clincher off a Gerard set.

Set 3 (25-18): The Archers hung around early and led 1-4 before the sets evened at 7-7. Holthaus then took over at the service line, running Beloit from 7-7 to 13-7 with two aces sandwiched around kills from Audrey Deane (Omaha, NE) and Tufte. Tufte added two more kills in the middle of the set, and Murphy served consecutive aces to stretch it to 22-13. Perez put the match away with a kill off a Keira Taylor (Eau Claire, WI) set.

The Buccaneers are back at Flood Arena for the first time in 2026 on Friday when they host North Park and Rockford for a tri-match. The Bucs face North Park in the opener at 3 pm and then close out the action against Rockford at 7 pm.
