Ted Soenksen

Soenksen enters his 6th season at the helm of the Buccaneers football program in 2024. He was announced as the head coach of the Buccaneer football program prior to the 2019 season. 

In his 5 years in charge, he has led the charge of increasing the size of the team. Since he took over, his roster has grown from 27 to 70+. 

Along with increasing numbers, he has pushed for his players to be better in the classroom, raising the team GPA from a 2.2 to a 2.9. 

His teams won the athletic department community service award for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years as well as the 2021 MWC Sportsmanship award. 

Soenksen is no stranger to the Midwest Conference. A 2006 graduate of Lake Forest College, Soenksen spent six seasons on the Foresters' staff, the last four as the team's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He added the title of associate head coach for the 2018 season. 

His high-powered offense set the Lake Forest program record for yards per game in 2017 and scoring average in 2016. Soenksen's offense led to numerous team and individual records, as well as, individual accolades including All-Midwest Conference and All-America honors. 

In addition to success at Lake Forest College, Soenksen has experience coaching tight ends, coordinating the run game, is certified in strength and conditioning and has also served as a recruiting coordinator. His previous experience includes stints at Limestone College, Briar Cliff University, Central Methodist University and MacMurray College. 

A four-year letter winner and two-year starter at Lake Forest College, Soenksen was a member of the winningest class in program history. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Lake forest in 2006 and a Master of Education from Central Methodist in 2009.
