Beloit College Baseball fell to Rutgers University-Camden 7-2 Saturday morning in their final game of the RussMatt Invitational in Florida. The Bucs topped RUC earlier in the week 6-5.
A big first inning by RUC put the game out of reach for the Bucs as the Raptors tallied six runs on five hits in the bottom of the first.
The Buccaneers responded with two runs in the next half inning courtesy of four hits including a Nick Schmidt double down the left field line but the RUC defense was stingy the rest of the way.
Schmidt and Terrance Cribbs registered two hits apiece in the game. Justin Kopech suffered the loss on the mound.
Beloit will head to Wheaton, Illinois for games against Dominican University and Concordia-Moorhead March 23 and 24 respectively. The Bucs' home opener is slated for March 25 against Milwaukee School of Engineering.
