Richard Thomas provided the late game heroics as the Beloit College men's soccer team went into double overtime for the second time in as many days. Thomas' goal in the 104th minute secured the Buccaneers' first win of the season, a 1-0 victory at Maranatha Baptist.
The Bucs held the advantage in shots, 14-12 including a 7-6 lean on shots on goal, and corner kicks, 6-5.
Beloit was coming off a 0-0 double overtime tie against Marian University (WI) yesterday in Beloit. On another hot day, the scoreboard read 0-0 at the end of regulation once again. Maranatha Baptist tallied the lone shot of the first overtime.
In the second overtime, at 103:02, Thomas was able to break the stalemate notching his first goal of the season. The 'Golden Goal' is in play for regular season contests so the goal ended the game securing the win.
