The Beloit College women's soccer team downed Monmouth College 2-0 on the road Sunday afternoon.
The Buccaneers registered fewer shots (18-11) than the Scots but found the back of the net twice in the first half.
The Buc offense got going from the start with Courtney Ceurvorst recording a shot on goal within the first five minutes. In the tenth minute, Candace Cunningham found an open look but her shot hit the crossbar bouncing back for another Ceurvorst shot that was saved by the Scots' keeper.
In the 13th minute, Midori Tanada opened the scoring finding the back of the net off an assist by Meghan McCarthy.
Less than five minutes later, Cunningham was able to beat the Monmouth keeper for a 2-0 Buc lead just 17:06 into the contest. That was all the Bucs would need as the defense shut down the Scots' offense the rest of the way.
Connor Keegan-Lloyd posted three saves in the first 45 minutes in goal for Beloit. In the second half, Kaitlyn Tomasin-Erickson was in net, thwarting 11 shots on goal and keeping Monmouth off the board.
The Buccaneers will head to Waukesha, Wisconsin for a meeting with Carroll University under the lights Wednesday, October 3. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
