Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bucs Battle but Fall to Regionally Ranked IIT

The Beloit College women's soccer team battled but fell to Illinois Institute of Technology, ranked tenth in the latest United Soccer Coaches' regional poll, 3-1 on a very hot day at the Strong Complex in Beloit.

The Buccaneers challenged the Illinois Tech defense with multiple scoring opportunities that either just missed target or were thwarted by the Scarlet Hawks' keeper.

Beloit held the advantage in shots 18-15 including an 11-7 gap in the second half.

IIT's Jamie Griggs was involved in each of their three goals assisting on the first and scoring the next two.

Multiple Bucs found openings behind the Scarlet Hawk defense including Midori Tanada, Genesis Dade, Courtney Cuervorst and Nikki Hebel but Beloit was unable to find the back of the net until the final seconds of the contest. Lili Hagg pitched one over the top of the Illinois Tech defense and out of reach of the goalie to get the Bucs on the board with just three seconds remaining in the game.

Connor Keegan-Lloyd suffered the loss in net for the Bucs making four saves in the first 45 minutes. Kaitlyn Tomasin-Erickson came in for the second half to make four saves.

Up Next: The Bucs will have a few days off before heading to Lake Forest, Illinois for their Midwest Conference opener on September 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30.
