Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Bucs Shutout Lady Blues on Senior Day

The Beloit College women's soccer team shutout Illinois College 5-0 as the seniors were recognized before the game.

The Buccaneers blasted 39 shots in the game while the defense held Illinois College to just 10 over the course of 90 minutes.

The spotlight was on the seniors throughout as a Buc senior was involved in each of the team's five goals in the contest. Senior Nikki Hebel was the first to score for the Bucs with a goal just 12:59 into the game off an assist from fellow senior Courtney Ceurvorst.

The Bucs second goal featured senior Hanna Metcalfe finding senior Lili Hagg in the 30th minute for a 2-0 lead.

Senior Candace Cunningham tallied back-to-back goals, separated by the intermission. The first came off a perfect service on a free kick from Ceurvorst with Cunningham elevating to get her head on it. Her second came just shy of two minutes into the second half. Hanna Metcalfe beat a defender to the baseline and found Cunningham making a run into the box for the quick score and a 4-0 lead.

Beloit's final goal featured Genesis Dade dribbling around a defender on the baseline and finding Aminah Crawford in the box for goal number five.

Goalkeepers Connor Keegan-Lloyd and Kaitlyn Tomasin-Erickson split time in goal combining for four saves and the complete game shutout.

The Bucs move to 4-3 in the Midwest Conference and currently sit in fifth. Three teams, Grinnell, Ripon and Cornell are tied for second with a 4-2 league mark and Knox sits atop the standings at 5-1. The four teams ahead of the Bucs in the league standings have three conference games left in the season. Beloit wraps up regular season play with two MWC matchups: at Ripon on Saturday, October 20 and at St. Norbert on Saturday, October 27.
