The Beloit College women's volleyball team fell to Cornell 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-13) in Beloit Friday evening.
The Buccaneers stayed close at the beginning of each set but the offense for the six-time defending Midwest Conference champions was too much as the Rams pulled away mid set.
Sophomore outside hitter Eva Laun-Smith led the Bucs offensively with five kills adding five digs in the contest.
Junior setter Paige Wimbrow set up the Buc hitters for eight assists. Defensively, senior libero Shelby Strehlow bolstered the backcourt with 12 digs and at the net, sophomore outside hitter Aryssa Harris came in for a solo and assist block in the third set.
Beloit will look to rebound with against league foe Grinnell College Saturday in Flood Arena at 1 p.m.
