The Beloit College women's volleyball team fell to 1-2 in the Midwest Conference with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-23) loss to Grinnell College Saturday afternoon.
The Pioneer offense gained momentum quickly and the Buccaneers were unable to stifle the high-powered outside attack.
Eva Laun-Smith bolstered the Bucs' offense with eight kills on 24 attempts. Molly Muller showcased efficiency with five kills in 11 attacks while committing just one attack error.
Setters Paige Wimbrow and Emily Stapay combined to tally 21 assists in the game while Shelby Strehlow led the Buccaneers defensively in the backcourt with ten digs. Defensively at the net, Laun-Smith, Allison Faber and Christy Melton each registered two blocks.
Beloit continues its home stand next week hosting Lawrence University Tuesday in a league contest followed by a non-conference match against Marian Wednesday. Both matches are slated to start at 7 p.m.
