The Beloit College volleyball team opened Midwest Conference play with a 3-2 (14-25, 29-27, 22-25, 30-28, 15-8) win in a marathon match at Monmouth.
The Buccaneer defense was stellar in the win with 10 total blocks at the net and 158 digs. Seven Bucs recorded double digit digs in the match. Allison Faber led Beloit at the net defensively with six block assists followed by Molly Muller's five. In the backcourt, Paige Wimbrow and Regina Guehlstorf registered 28 digs each.
Offensively, Eva Laun-Smith paced the Bucs with 17 kills in 43 attacks. She added 17 digs for the double-double and three blocks. Amanda Baran also recorded a double-double with double digit kills (16) and digs (21).
Wimbrow and Emily Stapay shared setting responsibilities tallying 25 and 21 assists respectively.
