There was seemingly a lid on the basket for the Buccaneers as the Beloit College women's basketball team fell to Monmouth College, the Midwest Conference leader, 67-32 on the road Saturday afternoon.
After a delayed start as the teams awaited the arrival of two officials, likely due to poor weather conditions in Monmouth, the Bucs' offense couldn't get going. Beloit shot just 21-percent from the field making 12 of their 58 shots from the floor in the contest.
The Scots came out on fire making 85-percent of their first quarter shots (11-13) and shot 53-percent from the floor (28-53) for the game.
Candace Cunningham notched a double-double scoring 13 points, including 11 in the first half, and hauling in 10 rebounds to lead Beloit. Cunningham added a game-high five steals in the contest. Lauren Glaser and Kelly McLean each dished out three assists.
Monmouth sits atop the league standings with a 7-1 record in conference play and a 12-3 mark overall. The Bucs are 2-6 in the MWC and 3-12 overall.
Beloit returns to Flood Arena to host Ripon College Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
