The Beloit College men's basketball team got off to a fast start but Grinnell's fast pace and three-point shooting in the second half was too much as the Buccaneers fell to the Pioneers 110-83 Thursday evening.
The contest was originally scheduled for Wednesday evening in Beloit but was moved due to the dangerous cold that swept over the Midwest.
Beloit got off to a hot start using a 14-1 run over a five-minute span to take a 12-point, 16-4 lead with just under 14 minutes showing on the clock in the first half. Â The Bucs hit their largest lead of the game with 9:32 on the clock after Matthew Miller's layup made it 28-14.
The Pioneers whittled the lead down to one, 43-42, by intermission.
Grinnell's offense got going in the second half dropping in 10 three-pointers in the second stanza to reclaim the lead and eventually pull away.
Tristan Shoup and Andrew Walters each notched double-doubles with Shoup tallying 22 points and 14 rebounds adding four assists. Walters knocked down 8-of-12 from the floor for 17 points, hauled in 11 boards and dished out seven assists in the game. Miller and Scotty Olsen combined for 20 points.
Next Up: The Bucs head to Lake Forest Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
