The Beloit College women's soccer team scored early and then held off the Pioneers to defeat UW-Platteville 1-0 on a blustery afternoon at the Strong Stadium Complex Wednesday.
Mikaila Davis capitalized on a fantastic ball in from
Sydney Hukin in the 14th minute of the contest to give Beloit a 1-0 lead. The Buccaneer defense held the rest of the way for the 1-0 victory.
UWP dominated time of possession and offensively opportunities with an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks and an 11-2 sway in shots on goal. However, the Bucs were efficient finding the back of the net on one of their two on target chances.
Beloit keeper
Connor Keegan-Lloyd recorded 11 saves in the contest including a phenomenal diving save in the first half on a well-struck ball near the top of the box. Keegan-Lloyd also turned away a free kick that was taken just outside the top of the box in the second half to keep the Pioneers off the board.
The Bucs will wrap up the 2019 season with their final Midwest Conference game Saturday. Beloit will host St. Norbert at 1 p.m. at the Strong Stadium Complex.
