The Beloit College seniors took to the gridiron at Strong Stadium for the final time in Saturday's game against Macalester. The Buccaneers fell to Macalester College 27-0.
Beloit's eight seniors including Caleb Wachal, Broakeen Sheffield, Andrei Prikhodko, Tyler Korous, Xavier Haynes, Tyler Assiff, Michael Lafayette and James Miranda were recognized prior to the start of the game.
The Bucs struggled to gain momentum in the first half as the Scots jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. That score would hold through the half.
Beloit gained some momentum in the second half with two fantastic defensive stands but untimely turnovers led to defensive points for the Scots.
Trailing as time ticked away, the Bucs were forced to keep their offense on the field for a few fourth down chances but were unable to move the chains giving Macalester good starting position that the Scots capitalized on.
Prikhodko led all players with 13 tackles, all of the solo version. He added a sack and two tackles for a loss totaling 18 yards. Miranda added two sacks and two forced fumbles in the game.
The Bucs will face a Midwest Conference South Division team in the championship weekend next Saturday. Matchups will be officially announced following the completion of all games throughout the league.
