Turnovers proved costly for the Buccaneer women in Appleton Saturday as the Beloit College women's basketball team fell to Lawrence 53-39. The margin was bolstered by a ten-point advantage for the Vikings in points off turnovers.
After an even first quarter the game was tied 11-11 but the Vikings took a lead in the second outscoring the Bucs 15-6 to capture a lead by the intermission they would hold onto the rest of the way. Beloit held close in the second half but were unable to come back from the first half deficit.
Neither team was particularly efficient offensively with Beloit shooting 32-percent from the field, 18-percent from three-point range and 44-percent from the charity stripe compared to the Vikings' shooting line of 31-, 22-, and 83-percent. The Bucs held the advantage on the glass out-rebounding the home team 40-37 in the game.
