The Beloit College men's basketball team put the pressure on but fell to Midwest Conference leader St. Norbert College 74-64 in Flood Arena Tuesday evening.
The Green Knights sit atop the MWC standings with a 14-1 record.
The Buccaneers were unable to get a consistent offensive rhythm in the first half shooting just 31-percent (9-29) from the floor and 20-percent (3-15) from three-point range. The Green Knights were more efficient hitting nearly 43-percent (12-28) of their first half shots to take a 32-22 lead into the intermission.
Beloit put the pressure on late as Dan Babb and Andrew Walters hit back-to-back threes to make it 69-59 with 2:37 on the clock. Matthew Miller added another 20 seconds later to narrow the gap into single digits, 71-62.
The teams traded a pair of free throws and SNC tallied one more from the charity stripe in the final minute for the 74-64 final.
The second half stats including field percentage, rebounds and turnovers were nearly identical as the teams each scored 42 points in the final stanza.
Babb and Walters tied for game-high honors tallying 16 apiece. Walters hauled in a game-high 10 boards for the double-double and added three assists and four steals. Miller and Scott Olsen combined for 20 points and 10 rebounds.
