The long bus trip to St. Paul, Minnesota didn't deter the Beloit College offense as the Buccaneer men's lacrosse team topped North Central University 21-4 in a contest played on the campus of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. Senior Mark Gannon tied the program record for goals in a game with nine.
The Bucs shutout the Rams in the first half while the offense found the back of the net for 12 goals in the first 30 minutes en route to the win. For the second time this season a Buccaneer attacker tied the program record for goals in a game with Gannon posting nine goals. He added three assists for 15 points and seven groundballs. Michael Boyland, who tied the mark two games ago, beat the Rams' keeper on four occasions, dished out five assists and added five groundballs in the game.
Adam Heckman and Andrei Prikhodko combined for eight goals in the game. Chris Krueger was the most active Buc on loose ball situations picking up a team-high eight groundballs while fellow defender Olaf Sorenson notched a game-high four caused turnovers.
David Kunczynski recorded four saves in the complete game win in net for Beloit.
The Bucs improve to 5-3 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and pull to even at 6-6 overall with the win. The Rams are 0-9 overall and 0-8 in MLC play this season.
Beloit's next two contests will be on the road as the Bucs will face Concordia-Chicago Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. and Marian University Wednesday, April 24 at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Aurora University Friday, April 26 at 7 p.m. in the regular season finale. Â
