The Beloit College men's lacrosse team extended their win streak to four games with a 13-7 win over Concordia University Chicago Saturday on the road. The Buccaneers improve to 6-3 in Midwest Lacrosse Conference play with the win moving into fifth with two regular season games remaining.
The Bucs outscored CUC 3-2 in the first and 3-1 in the second to take a 6-3 advantage into halftime. The first quarter saw Michael Boyland and Mark Gannon entering the scoring column with Gannon finding the back of the net on two occasions. Andrei Prikhodko notched his first goal to open the scoring in the second quarter followed by Boyland's second goal of the game and Gannon's third.
A big third quarter for Beloit had the Bucs extending the lead to 11-5 and put the game out of reach. In a rarity, Luke Thomson tallied the score on an assist from Beloit's keeper, David Kunczynski to give the Bucs a 7-3 lead in the third. Prikhodko and Gannon each struck again before Adam Heckman and Gannon beat the Cougar keeper just eight second apart to extend the gap to 11-5.
Each team scored twice in the final 15 minutes. The final scores of the game came from Prikhodko and Gannon.
Gannon posted six goals and two assists to lead the Beloit offense. Thomson led the Bucs' defense with nine groundballs and five caused turnovers.
Kunczynski tallied 11 saves in the game.
Beloit will fight for a spot in the MLC tournament in their final two games of the season beginning with a road game at Marian Wednesday, April 24 at 7. The Bucs' will host Aurora Friday, April 26 in the regular season finale at 7 p.m. at Strong Stadium.
