Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bucs Fall at Marian

The Beloit College men's lacrosse team's Midwest Lacrosse Conference tournament hopes were dashed Wednesday as the Buccaneers fell to Marian University 21-14. Despite having one game left to play, the Bucs will narrowly miss the MLC tournament.

The game was even through the first quarter but a big second for the Sabres gave MU a 12-6 advantage at the half that Beloit could not overcome.

Mark Gannon provided the offense for Beloit in the first quarter scoring all three of the Bucs' goals in the 15-minute span. Michael Boyland took his turn in the second quarter adding two tallies in the goals column.

Marian also had the advantage in the third quarter outscoring Beloit 4-3 before the Bucs held even with the Sabres in the final quarter.

Boyland struck two more times and Gannon notched his fifth goal of the contest in the third quarter. The fourth quarter saw Boyland, Tobin Greenwald, Steven Soli and Gannon all registering scores.

Boyland and Gannon each posted six goals and combined for five assists for 17 points in the contest. Greenwald recorded nine groundballs in the game and led Beloit with two caused turnovers.

David Kunczynski made 14 saves in goal for the Bucs.

Beloit will host Aurora Friday night for their season finale. The seniors will be recognized prior to the 7 p.m. start of the game.
