Bucs Cruise to Win Over Blue Jays

The Beloit College women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-4 win over Elmhurst College on a stormy night at Strong Stadium Monday evening.

The impending storms did not deter the Buccaneer offense as three Bucs scored five or more goals in the game including Kieran Rodning, Nicole Dolcimascolo and Fiona Milchman.

The Blue Jays got on the board first with an unassisted goal a minute into the contest but it was all Beloit after that. Dolcimascolo notched her first goal of the game just 34 seconds later. She sparked a 9-0 Beloit spurt and bolstered the run with four goals over the next 20 minutes. Milchman tallied a perfectly timed goal at the 5:35 mark. As her shot hit the net behind the Elmhurst keeper, lightning struck and the game was halted until deemed safe to play.

The Blue Jays came out of the 30-plus minute delay with back-to-back goals to make it 9-3 but Rodning stole the momentum back with the final score of the half, an unassisted goal with just 36 seconds remaining.

Milchman posted three of the first four Buccaneer goals in the second half as Katie LaCost added her first tally in the scoring column. Rodning increased her goal total by three in the second half and Dolcimascolo posted a goal and an assist.

Rodning led the Bucs with six goals on nine shots on goal. Melinda Balades was the most active with loose balls recording seven groundballs in the contest. Kaitlyn Erickson stifled the Elmhurst offense with seven caused turnovers in the game.

The Bucs will wrap up the 2019 season at Illinois Tech Saturday, April 27 at noon.
