The Beloit College softball team dropped a pair of shortened games at Lake Forest Wednesday falling to the Foresters 12-2 and 8-0, each in five innings.
After the Foresters took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Buccaneers answered with two runs in the top of the second. With the bases loaded, Alyssa Morris worked the pitcher battling off multiple pitches until she took ball four for an RBI. Madi Christine followed with a single to center field that plated Callie Dutton. Kaitlynn Taft rounded for home on the play and dove headfirst into home as the catcher seemed to drop the ball before the tag. An initial out call was appealed and the field umpire said he was unable to see the loose ball so the call stood ending the inning.
Lake Forest came back with three in their half of the frame adding five in the third and ended the game early on a homerun in the fifth.
Beloit registered six hits in the game with six different Bucs tallying a hit. Alyssa Boltik suffered the complete game loss on the mound.
Christine and Boltik recorded the lone hits of the game in the nightcap as the Bucs left six on base in the game. Alyssa Morris took the loss in the circle.
The Midwest Conference neutral site weekend slated for Saturday and Sunday has shifted due to forecasted inclement weather Saturday. The Bucs will now host Illinois College Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex. No games will be played Saturday but Beloit will head back to Janesville for a doubleheader against Cornell Sunday at 12 p.m.
