Bucs Fall at Illinois Tech

The Beloit College women's soccer team fell to Illinois Tech 5-0 Sunday night in Chicago.

The Buccaneers had the first scoring opportunity as Raine Lowen-Thomas got a shot off in the third minute that was saved by the Scarlet Hawks' keeper. Beloit goalie Connor Keegan-Lloyd returned the favor casting aside an IIT shot in the fifth minute.

IIT's offense created a flurry of opportunities in a three minute span mid-first period. Keegan-Lloyd thwarted three scoring chances but one shot found the back of the net giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute. The Scarlet Hawks added a goal in the 28th minute to take a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Kaitlyn Erickson took over in goal for the Bucs to start the second half. She notched her first two saves of the contest early in the period with back-to-back saves in just 34 seconds. Following a foul in the box, IIT capitalized on a penalty kick to make it 3-0 in the 49th minute.

The Hawks added two more in the 59th minute and 61st minute for the final.

Keegan-Lloyd and Erickson combined to register 13 saves in the contest.

The Bucs will welcome Edgewood College to the Strong Stadium Soccer Complex for their 2019 home opener Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
