Box Score 2 The Beloit College volleyball team dropped a pair of matches in the first day of competition in the Red Hawk Invitational hosted by Ripon College Friday afternoon. The Buccaneers fell to MSOE 3-2 (22-25, 27-25, 25-14, 25-19, 15-12) followed by a 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-14) loss to Carroll University.
Amanda Baran led the Buc offense with an efficient performance at the net. Hitting .396 in the five-setter, Baran registered a match-high 23 kills while committing just four errors.
Eva Laun-Smith tallied a double doulbe ith 19 kills and 18 digs adding three service errors and four blocks including one solo and three assisted in the contest. Setter
Paige Wimbrow notched 51 assistss and 15 digs.
Defensively at the net,
Regina Guehlstorf posted six blocks including two solo and four assisted to lead Beloit. She added eight kills in five sets played. In the backcourt,
Jade Mosquera was credited with 24 digs.
Komachi Naoe added 13 and
Courtnie Thomas dug up 11 MSOE attacks in the match.
Laun-Smith led the Buccaneer offense in match two of the day tallying 10 kills against Carroll. Wimbrow dished out 18 assists adding two aces in the contest.
Defensively, Mosquera notched another double figure dig match with 14 as Laun-Smith added 12 to the team total.
Molly Muller and
Aryssa Harris each registered three blocks in the contest.
The Bucs will wrap up play in the Red Hawk Invitational with a pair of matches Saturday.
