Box Score 2 The Beloit College women's tennis team dropped a pair of matches in Iowa Saturday. The Buccaneers opened the day with a 9-0 loss at Grinnell before jumping back on the road to head to Mount Vernon where the fell to Cornell 8-1.Â
The Bucs struggled to gain a foothold against a solid Pioneer squad at Grinnell.
Hayden Lamphere and
Emma Hahn put up a good fight at number two doubles but fell to the Grinnell combination of Brenda Guan and Izzy Green 8-4. With the win, the Pioneers have now won 32 of their last 33 matches in Midwest Conference play dating back to 2015.Â
After traveling from Grinnell to Mount Vernon following the first match of the day, Beloit fell to 1-4 in Midwest Conference action with an 8-1 loss at Cornell.
Makayla Jo Zundel and
Jamie Kelly teamed up for the Bucs' win in the match, an 8-4 victory over the Rams' duo of Amanda Dragon and Natalie Brandt at number three doubles.Â
