Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Bucs Tally Win in Thrilling Fashion Saturday

The Beloit College men's soccer team posted a thrilling 1-0 win over Cornell College Saturday as a late goal from Deji Agunbiade lifted the Buccaneers over the Rams.

There was no shortage of offensive opportunities for either team but it all game down to the final minutes. Cornell tallied 20 shots in the game while Beloit registered 11 and both teams recorded four shots on goal. No shot was bigger than a free kick int he 89th minute for Beloit.

Drawing a foul just inches outside the box, Agunbiade lined up to take the free kick. It was the second time, Agunbiade had a free kick opportunity near the top of the box. The first sailed high of the goal in the 59th minute. This time, from the center, Agunbiade approached and struck the ball well towards the upper left of the goal, the only option that far in. The ball sailed passed the wall and beat the diving Rams keeper finding the back of the net in the upper left corner of the goal with just 1:08 to play.

The Bucs celebrated near their bench but the game was not over. Cornell pressed and a flurry of action in Beloit's defensive zone was covered nicely by the Bucs' back line to seal the 1-0 victory.

Luis Rodriguez made four saves in the complete game in goal for the Bucs.

Up Next: Beloit will host Monmouth College Sunday at 1:30.
