The Beloit College women's soccer team narrowly fell to Cornell College 2-1 in the team's Midwest Conference opener Saturday in Beloit.
The Buccaneers opened the scoring as
Mikaila Davis collected the ball at the top of the box and calmly cut it back finding
Midori Tanada near the back post. Tanada placed the ball inside the far post beating the Rams keeper for a 1-0 Beloit lead in the 32nd minute.
Cornell tallied the equalizer just under ten minutes into the second half and then took the lead in the 81st minute. The Rams defense stiffened for the final nine minutes not allowing a Buc shot the rest of the way.
Tanada registered two of the team's three shots on goal in the game finding the back of the net on one. Beloit keeper
Audrey Ketterer turned away six Cornell shots on frame in the complete game in goal for the Bucs.
Beloit will host Monmouth College Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Strong Stadium Complex.
