The Beloit College women's basketball team picked up a win in Midwest Conference play with a 71-56 rout of Lawrence University Saturday afternoon in Flood Arena.
The Buccaneers limited turnovers in the first half and shot well from the field to build a lead but came out of the halftime intermission firing on all cylinders. Leading 32-25 at the break, the Bucs shot 54-percent from the floor and 63-percent from three-point range in the second half to extend the gap.
After the Vikings notched the first bucket of the second half, Beloit ran off eight straight to push the advantage into double figures. The margin dipped below ten for a few seconds with under five minutes left in the third but a
Dani Strejc three pushed back into double digits where it would remain the rest of the way.
Strejc bolstered a great second half for the Bucs hitting all three of her shots from behind the arc to bolster an 11-point second half performance. She tied teammate
T'Aira Boyance for team-high honors with 14 points.
Lauren Glaser added 13 points and registered a game-high five assists in the contest.
Kelly McLean tallied a game-high four steals and
Christy Melton was just a point shy of a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.
Up Next: The Bucs will host Knox and Illinois College Friday and Saturday. Game times are 7:30 and 3 p.m.
