Junior midfielder
Kieran Rodning set the Beloit College record for goals in a game to lead the Buccaneers to an 18-4 win over Elmhurst on the road in the team's season-opener. Numerous Bucs have registered seven goals in a contest in program history but none had tallied eight until Rodning accomplished the feat Saturday.
The Buccaneers scored the first six goals of the game with Rodning and
Nicole Dolcimascolo trading the first four goals of the contest. First-year
Olivia Farbarik entered the scoring column registering her first collegiate goal at the 18:08 mark to give the Bucs a 5-0 lead. Rodning struck again less than 30 seconds later off an assist from
Fiona Milchman to make it 6-0 Beloit.
The Blue Jays got on the board with a goal on the player advantage about halfway through the half but the Buc offense was rolling. Rodning and Dolcimascolo each scored twice more with
Kaitlyn Erickson getting in on the action before the first half horn sounded. Beloit enjoyed an 11-1 lead at the intermission.
On the other side of the break, Beloit rattled off four more in a row, two a piece from Milchman and Dolcimascolo. From that point, Rodning responded to each of Elmhurst's final three goals individually following each EC score with a goal of her own about two minutes later. Two of those scores were unassisted for Rodning with Dolcimascolo setting up the junior for the record-breaking eighth goal with 2:14 on the clock.
Rodning capitalized on eight of ten shots on goal adding a ground ball and two caused turnovers. Dolcimascolo also registered eight points in the contest with six goals and two assists adding three ground balls, two caused turnovers and nine draw controls. With the eight points Saturday, Dolcimascolo moves into second all-time for career points with 159. Milchman tallied four points in the game with two goals and two assists.
Alexa Arakelian registered five saves in the complete game in goal for the Bucs.
