The Beloit College women's basketball team won the second half but fell to Grinnell College 66-49 in a road contest Wednesday night.
The Buccaneers outscored Grinnell 26-25 in the second half but a big first quarter deficit was too much to overcome. Turnovers proved costly in the first half as Beloit tallied 11 in the first quarter and 16 in the first half. The Bucs matched the Pioneers on the glass but shooting efficiency was in favor of Grinnell as the Pioneers shot 43-percent from the floor compared to 32-percent for Beloit.
Beloit shot a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line in the second half, gained the edge in rebounds and nearly cut their turnovers in half en route to winning the last 20 minutes of the contest.
Kelly Loudon heated up after the intermission dropping 12 points on 4-7 from the floor, 2-2 from three-point range and 2-2 from the charity stripe. She was one rebound shy of a double-double in the second half.
For the game, Loudon picked up the double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds adding two blocks and a steal.
Kelly McLean dished out a team high three assists adding five boards.
