Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Foresters' Shooting Too Much for Bucs

The Beloit College men's basketball team was unable to keep up with the hot-shooting Foresters in an 89-58 loss in Flood Arena Saturday.

LFC, ranked among the top 25 in the nation in shooting percentage this season, knocked down over 51-percent (33-64) of their shots from the floor, 50-percent (16-32) from three-point range and hit 64-percent (7-11) of their opportunities from the charity stripe.

The Foresters grabbed the momentum from the opening jump as it looked like Andrew Walters won the tip until an LFC guard swooped in to pickup possession and converted on the layin for a 2-0 Lake Forest lead just four seconds into the contest. Michael Polakoski countered with a picture perfect catch-and-pop three-pointer on the Bucs' offensive end. A long ball for Lake Forest was negated once again by a Polakoski three forcing an early Forester timeout as the Bucs trailed 8-6 just under two minutes into the game. From that point, Lake Forest took over hitting three of their next four shots from beyond the arc to capture a double digit lead. The Bucs were unable to cut the deficit into single digits the rest of the way.

The Buccaneers limited turnovers to less than 15 but the Foresters still maintained the advantage in points of takeaways 15-4. Beloit shot 43-percent (23-54) from the field, 29-percent (7-24) from long range and 56-percent (5-9) from the free throw line in the game.

Andrew Walters led Beloit with a double-double dropping 14 points and hauling in 14 rebounds. He hit 6-11 from the floor adding three assists. Tristan Shoup tallied 11 points, dished out three assists and registered two blocks. Darin Empereur notched a team-high four assists in the game.

Up Next: The Bucs will head to De Pere, Wisconsin to take on league-leader St. Norbert College Wednesday at 5:30.
