The Beloit College men's basketball team was outshot by Monmouth College on the Fighting Scots home court leading to a 75-61 loss Saturday afternoon.
Beloit shot just 32-percent (7-22) from the floor in the first half and 37-percent (11-30) in the second. The Bucs were 8-26 from behind the three-point line and 17-24 from the charity stripe. Monmouth was more efficient from the field at 53-percent (27-51) for the game. The Fighting Scots hit 5-17 from long range and just 16-30 from the free throw line in the contest.
The first half went back-and-forth with a pair of free throws from
Michael Myles knotting the game 21-21 with just over five minutes remaining before the intermission. The Fighting Scots rattled off the next six points and held the lead rest of the way.
Scotty Olsen's jumper in the paint on the other side of the break pulled the Bucs to within one, 31-30, in their first possession of the second half. That was as close as Beloit would come to reclaiming the lead in the contest.
The Fighting Scots held a 22-9 advantage in fast break points in the game.
Olsen led all players with 21 points bolstered by 4-9 from long range.
Brian Rusch joined Olsen in double digits with 10 points adding a team-high six boards.
Mylan Walters tallied a game high four assists and shared team high steal honors with
Andrew Walters with two.
