Senior
Aminah Crawford entered the national rankings in a pair of events to lead the Buccaneer and track and field program in the Beloit Triangular featuring St. Norbert College and Knox College at Strong Stadium Friday evening.
Crawford registered a top 30 national clocking to win the 100 with a time of 12.41. Teammate
Jordyn McDonald was just nudged into third with a time of 13.15, missing silver by one hundredth of a second. Crawford's time of 25.71 in the 200 was tops at the meet and ranks among the top 40 in Division III this season. She tallied a third top finish running the second leg of Beloit's 4x100 relay team that crossed the line in 50.95.
Eva Laun-Smith also captured three golds Friday. She was the lone competitor in the 100-meter hurdles recording a time of 15.48. She also stood atop the podium in the long jump and triple jump while teammate
Sydney Crockett finished third and second in the two events respectively.
Hannah Welte was the first to cross the finish line in the 400-meter hurdles stopping the clock in 1:12.95.
Five Buc men notched first-place finishes at the meet.
Ajani Joseph and
Alexandre Atou went 1-2 in the 200 led by Joseph's 23.60 clocking.
Mauricio Penn took top honors in the 400 with a time of 52.29 while Atou finished third.
Diontia Charles and
Deo Edwards registered the same height to finish 1-2 in the high jump. In the long jump,
Desmond Turner's leap of 5.61 meters (18-5) took gold while
Genesis Solomon finished third.
Brandon Joly also captured a top finish with a recorded distance of 11.85 meters (38-10.5) in the triple jump.
Emma Newsham and
Nathan Marklin tallied runner-up finishes in the 3000 steeplechase while
Fiona Cismesia and
Maggie Baugh finished second and third in the 5000. Joseph added a silver to his day with a clocking of 11.39 in the 100. Aspen Valentine (1500),
Montana McMahon (400) and Leeland Crum (pole vault) added third place finishes for the Bucs.
In the final events of the evening, the Buc women finished second in the 4x400 while the men had the lone competing foursome. The men's 4x100 relay near the beginning of the meet was one of the most exciting with Beloit taking an early lead before Knox edged the Bucs at the finish line to take gold by just .04.
