The Beloit College Track and Field program competed at the Prairie Fire Invitational hosted by Knox College Saturday. The Buccaneer women finished first while the men were third at the meet.
Aminah Crawford and
Eva Laun-Smith led the Buc women combining to win six individual events. Crawford was tops in the 100 with a time of 12.63 while teammate
Jordyn McDonald finished as the runner-up. She also captured gold in the 200 with a clocking of 26.15. Laun-Smith was the first to cross the line in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.01. She also took gold in three field events including the long jump (5.23 meters), triple jump (10.90 meters) and javelin (30.09 meters). Teammates
Sydney Crockett and
Rose Loos-Austin made it a Beloit sweep of the top three in the long jump while
Lena Ramsey finished second in the triple.
Alekzandria Taylor took bronze in the javelin after securing top honors in the hammer throw with a toss of 33.38 meters.
Aspen Valentine led a Buc contingent that went 1-2-3 in the 1,500 with a time of 5:37.42.
Alayna Furch and Marianna Carus finished 2-3 in the 400 led by Furch's 1:04.74.
Lexy Olson (2:44.30) and
Hannah Welte (1:12.80) captured silver in the 800 and 400-meter hurdles respectively. Madeline Holicky was clocked in 22:28.31 for bronze in the 5,000.
Alexandre Atou led the Buc men with a first place finish in the 200 stopping the clock at 53.85.
Brandon Joly added second place points to the team total with a leap of 12.10 meters in the triple jump. Gabriel Cabrera and
Owen Clexton finished 2-3 in the discus and 3-4 in the shot put while
Diontia Charles secured silver in the javelin with a throw of 39.17 meters.
Carson McDonald was fourth in the event while Cabrera also added a fourth in the hammer.
Leeland Crum was the runner-up in the pole vault with a height of 3.35 meters.
Mauricio Penn was third to cross the line in the 800 with a 2:03.27 clocking.
Desmond Turner was third in the long jump recording a distance of 5.89 meters adding fourth place points with a time of 11.73 in the 100.
Nathan Marklin also added a fourth place finish in the 5,000.
In the relays, the Buccaneer women were tops in the both the 4x100 (49.77) and 4x400 (4:27.17). The men took gold in the 4x400 with a time of 3:37.56 and combined for third in the 4x100 with a clocking of 45.69
