The Beloit College track and field program opened the outdoor season hosting a triangular featuring Monmouth College and Lake Forest College at Strong Stadium Saturday.
The Buccaneer women had a number of top finishes to lead Beloit.
Aminah Crawford was clocked in 27.92 in the 200 to win the event while teammates
Alayna Furch and
Montana McMahon completed the 1-2-3 sweep.
Maggie Baugh crossed the line in 47:14.53 to take gold in the 10,000 meter run. The 400-meter hurdles saw Beloit's
Hannah Welte cross the finish line first with a time of 1:10.52.
In the field events,
Eva Laun-Smith led the Bucs with top finishes in the long jump (17-8) and triple jump (34-6.25).
Sydney Crockett was second int he triple jump.
Crawford (100), McMahon (400), and
Alekzandria Taylor (javelin) each registered runner-up finishes.
Crawford led a foursome including Laun-Smith, Furch and Welte to a second place finish in the 4x100 with a time of 51.51. The Buc's 4x400 squad of McMahon, Furch, Crawford and Welte also finished second with a clocking of 4:21.24.
Mauricio Penn led the Beloit men with a gold finish in the 800 meter run with a clocking of 2:04.15. Penn also ran the last leg of Beloit's second place 4x400 relay. Along with
Travis Price,
Brandon Joly, and Alexander Atou, Penn and the Bucs stopped the clock in 3:39. 75. Price was also involved in the 4x100 relay featuring teammates
Ajani Joseph,
Desmond Turner and
Desire Mukucha that took bronze with a time of 45.41.
Joly tallied an individual third place with a time of 53.26 in the 400 while
Carson McDonald's javelin toss of 104-3 was also good for bronze.
