Senior sprinter
Aminah Crawford crushed the 100 meter dash to lead the Beloit College track and field program at a meet hosted by St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon. A fantastic day despite strong winds, Crawford absolutely flew down the straightaway crossing the line in 12.05, a mark that is tied for the fifth fastest in the nation this season. The Buccaneer women finished third at the meet while the men were fouth.
Crawford's blistering pace was tops in the event and is just four-hundredths off the school record mark. Teammate
Eva Laun-Smith improved her national marks in the jumps at the meet. Tying her personal best to win the long jump, Laun-Smith's leap of 5.59 meters (18-4.25) ranks in the top 20 nationally. She also captured top honors in the triple recording another top 20 Division III mark, 11.54 meters (37-10.5). Crawford added a second gold to her phenomenal day registering a time of 25.63 in the 200 while Laun-Smith added second place points to the team total with a runner-up finish in the javelin (32.90 meters, 107-11). The pair of seniors were joined by
Lena Ramsey and
Jordyn McDonald to finish third in the 4x100 with a time of 50.24.
Hannah Welte brought home bronze in the 400-meter hurdles crossing the line in 1:12.02. Also adding points to the women's team total were
Fiona Cismesia and
Maggie Baugh in the 5000 (fourth and fifth, 22:43.68 and 23:31.17),
Lexy Olson in the steeplechase (fifth, 13:44.08),
Sydney Crockett in the triple jump (fifth), Ramsey and Crockett in the long jump (fifth and sixth),
Montana McMahon in the 400 (sixth, 1:03.97),
Alayna Furch in the 200 (sixth, 27.11), McDonald and
Darcel Royster in the 100 (sixth and eighth, 13.04 and 13.76), Madeleine Holicky in the 1500 (eighth, 5:58.12), and Aspen Valentine in the 800 (eighth 2:38.59).
McMahon, Furch, Welte and McDonald combined for a time of 4:30.27 in the 4x400 to add fifth-place points to the team total.

On the men's side, the Buccaneer contingent in the 400 added points to the team total for three top eight finishes.
Brandon Joly led the way with a runner-up time of 53.30 followed by
Alexandre Atou in third with a time of 53.53 and
Zach Cranna was sixth crossing the line in 56.87. Beloit's top relay teams in the 4x100 and 4x400 both finished with silver. In the 4x100,
Desmond Turner,
Desire Mukucha and
Genesis Solomon joined Atou for a 45.85 clocking. Atou and Turner teamed with Joly and
Mauricio Penn for a time of 3:33.62 in the 4x400.
Penn added an individual third place finish with a time of 2:03.52 in the 800. Leeland Crum also captured bronze with a height of 3.50 meters (11.5.75) in the pole vault.
Also adding points to the team total were Joly in the triple jump (fourth),
Gabe Cabrera and
Owen Clexton in the shot put (fourth and eighth),
Chase Nelson and Clexton in the hammer throw (sixth and seventh),
Cristian Martinez-Zendejas in the 200 (sixth, 30.18), Cabrera and Clexton in the discus (seventh and eighth), and
Nathan Marklin in the 5000 (eighth, 20:18.94).
