The Beloit College softball team battled gusty winds in a pair of losses at St. Norbert College Saturday afternoon. The Buccaneers dropped the opener 11-0 and the nightcap 19-6, both five inning affairs.
Miscues and St. Norbert's high-powered offense told the story of game one. The Green Knights scored 11 on nine hits while
Alyssa Morris tallied the Bucs' lone hit of the opener.
Beloit's offense got rolling in the second game but SNC had the answer each time the Bucs scored. A sacrifice fly from
Emily Stapay plated Beloit's first run of the game in the top of the first.
Maddie Moser followed with an RBI triple to put the Bucs up 2-0 after the first half inning. St. Norbert claimed the lead in the bottom half of the frame plating seven.
Isabel Johnson tallied an RBI on a double in the second before
Briana Arteaga's sac bunt scored Morris,
Kaitlynn Taft brought in another on a sac fly and Stapay drove in Beloit's sixth run in the fourth.
Johnson, Stapay and Moser each registered two hits in the game to lead the Buc offense.
Maddy Pfortmiller and
Cora Aubert suffered the losses in the circle for the Bucs, each going the distance in their starts.
