The Buccaneer track and field program competed at the Viking Invitational hosted by Lawrence University Saturday. The Beloit women finished third while the men were fourth at the meet.
The Buc women captured multiple golds at the meet including Beloit's 4x100 foursome of
Lena Ramsey,
Eva Laun-Smith,
Jordyn McDonald and
Aminah Crawford who turned in a time of 49.38. Individually, Crawford was also tops in the 200 meter dash crossing the line in 25.72 while Laun-Smith took gold in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.40. Laun-Smith brought home a third gold with top distance in the javelin posting a mark of 39.04 meters (128-01).
Hannah Welte added another top finish with a time of 1:11.48 in the 400 hurdles.
Mauricio Penn led the Buc men with a gold in the 400 registering a time of 51.65. Beloit's 4x400 combination of
Alexandre Atou,
Brandon Joly,
Zach Cranna and Penn teamed up for the top time in the relay, 3:30.32.
In addition to top honors in multiple events, the Bucs had a drove of athletes finish as the runner-up or capture bronze. Runner-ups include
Montana McMahon in the 400 (62.54),
Diontia Charles in the javelin (34.36 meters), and the men's 4x100 relay squad of
Desire Mukucha,
Genesis Solomon, Atou and
Ajani Joseph (45.31).
Third place finishers include
Alayna Furch in the 400 (62.57), Joseph in the 100 (11.48), Joly in the 200 (22.99), and a second Bucs' 4x100 team of Turner, Cranna,
Josh Schilling and Charles (46.90).
