Membrino Scores in Bucs' Loss on the Road

The Beloit College women's soccer team struck first but ended up falling to Carthage 3-1 Wednesday night in the squad's final non-conference contest before their league slate begins this weekend.

Under the lights in Kenosha, Abigail Membrino opened the scoring just seven minutes into the outing to put Beloit on top 1-0. Less than 10 minutes before the period ended Carthage tallied the equalizer to make it a brand new game heading into the second half.

Carthage registered a pair of goals in the second 45 to seal the win.

Keeping the ball away from the Buccaneer offense for much of the contest, the Carthage offense pressed the Beloit defense firing 20 shots including 13 on frame in the game. Audrey Ketterer turned away four Carthage scoring chances in the first 45 while Briana Arteaga came in for the second period to tally six saves.

The Bucs open play in the Midwest Conference playing host to Ripon College Saturday at the Strong Soccer Complex. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m.
