The Beloit College track and field program opened the 2022 indoor season at the Karl Schlender Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon. Both squads for the Bucs finished sixth in the meet that featured some high-powered competition including the Warhawks, Loras, MSOE, Wisconsin Lutheran, Concordia University Wisconsin, and two additional track clubs.
Deo Edwards led the Beloit men individually with an eighth-place finish in the high jump posting a jump of 1.51 meters. On the women's side, the Bucs went 5-7 in the 3000 led by Madeleine Holicky's 13:32.62.
Carter Browne and
Maggie Baugh were close behind for sixth and seventh.
Aspen Valentine was seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:46.92 while teammate
Marianna Carus added eighth-place points in the event.
Other top individual finishers for Beloit were
Diontia Charles and
Rose Loos-Austin in the long jump;
Chase Nelson, Gabriel Cabrera and
Alekzandria Taylor in the weight throw; Alex Atou and
Montana McMahon in the 600;
Aiden Cortinas in the 800;
Ajani Joseph and
Jaeonie Echols in the 200;
Cooper Slatter and
Kiya Herrera in the shot put;
Brandon Joly in the triple jump; and
Owen Eichfeld in the 3000.
The Bucs 4x200 relays each took second with the men registering a time of 1:38.76 and the women crossing the line in 1:56.00.
