The Beloit College men's and women's track and field programs competed in the high-powered Leonard "Squig" Converse Invitational hosted by UW-Whitewater Friday and Saturday. The meet includes some of the best indoor squads in the country annually.
The meet is a split meet with the men competing Friday followed by the women Saturday. Highlighting the men Friday evening, the Bucs' distance medley relay squad finished second. The foursome included
Cristian Martinez-Zendejas,
Edgar Caracoza,
Aiden Cortinas and
Owen Eichfeld.
Emiliano Reyes registered a top 15 finish with a heave of 12.69 in the shot put, good for thirteenth at the meet.
On the women's side Saturday,
Maggie Baugh provided an individual highlight finishing seventh in the 5000 after crossing the line in 24:43.61. The foursome of
Carter Browne,
Marianna Carus,
Aspen Valentine, and Madeleine Holicky were the runners-up in the DMR with a clocking of 15:32.71. Carus and Valentine were joined by
Candis Damste and
Jaeonie Echols in the 4x400 relay that also added points to the team total with a time of 4:40.62.
Jordyn McDonald captured another top 15 finish in the 200 with a time of 27.44, McDonald also advanced to the prelims of the 60-mter dash after finishing third in a qualifier with a time of 8.34. She bettered her time by .04 seconds in the prelims but did not advance to the finals.
