MONMOUTH, Ill. - Conference-leading Monmouth College defeated Beloit 64-0 Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated in the Midwest Conference standings. The Fighting Scots finished the game with 492 yards of total offense, including 247 on the ground and 245 through the air in a balanced attack.
Monmouth (5-1, 5-0 MWC) broke a scoreless tie just two and a half minutes into the contest on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Carter Boyer to Jake Uryasz. Three minutes later, the Fighting Scots found the end zone again on a 34-yard pass from Boyer to Nate Thoornton. Boyer would add a one-yard run later in the opening quarter, before finding Brendan Bishop for a six-yard score. Riley Fetterer added a 40-yard run later in the period, while Sencere Brent returned a fumble 25 yards for a score to give Monmouth a 42-0 halftime lead.
Boyer continued his outstanding game with a 16-yard TD run in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Devin Pinkard and Jeremiah Austin added short touchdown runs later in the game to cap the scoring.
Beloit was led by 
Donavan Richardson and 
Devin Bush, who each carried the ball five times for 12 yards. Quarterback 
Jacob Shafer completed 5-of-16 yards for 33 yards, while 
AJ Fitzpatrick recorded team-highs of two catches for 29 yards.
Defensively, Beloit was led by Christopher Croft, Jr.'s 10 tackles. 
Ethan Flores added eight tackles and one interception, while reigning MWC Special Teams Performer of the Week 
Gavin Thorpe recorded an interception for the second consecutive game.
Boyer finished the game 13-for-17 passing for 141 yards and three TDs, while rushing three times for 17 yards and two more scores. Marcus Albers led the Fighting Scots with 58 yards on 10 carries. Nate Thornton caught four passes for 77 yards.
Beloit will try to rebound next weekend when they'll be back at the friendly confines of Strong Stadium to host Lawrence University. That game will begin at 1 p.m. in Beloit, Wis.
