BELOIT, Wis. - The defending Midwest Conference Tournament Champions will be back in the event to defend their title this year, as Beloit's women's soccer team clinched a spot in the MWC Tournament for the second consecutive season with a 2-0 win over Lawrence University on Wednesday afternoon. The Buccaneers also held the shot advantage, 16-10, including 11-3 in the first half.
Both of Beloit's goals came from Sophomore
Gracie Gasmann, who broke a scoreless tie in the 12th minute with her second goal of the season. She would add another all by herself in the 31st minute for her third goal of the year, which is just one shy of
Mikaila Davis' team-high of four.
That would be more than enough scoring than the Buccaneers would need, as Goal Keepers
Audrey Ketterer and
Briana Arteaga combined for the shutout, finishing with seven saves between them. Lawrence Goal Keeper Sarah Yochem played all 90 minutes between the pipes, making five saves.
Beloit will close their regular season on Saturday at Cornell College. That game is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon, Iowa. The Buccaneers will then play their MWC semifinal game on Friday, November 4, with the opponent and location to be determined.
