CHICAGO, Ill. - Beloit's women's basketball team took part in the North Park University Tournament over the weekend, falling to host North Park 91-74, before redeeming themselves with a 71-54 neutral site victory against Alma on Saturday afternoon, which marked the Buccaneers first win of the young season.

In Friday's loss to North Park (1-0), the Buccaneers (1-2) were outscored 26-10 in the second quarter, making up the majority of the final deficit. The Buccaneers shot 48 percent (28-58) from the field, including 31 percent (4-13) from 3-point range. Elizabeth Kalk led all scorers with 24 points, to go along with eight rebounds and four assists, while T'Aira Boyance and Hannah Welte each finished with 14 points.

North Park shot 42 percent (33-79) from the field, including 27 percent (6-22) from 3-point range. They were led by Victoria Perry's 24 points, while Esther Miller added 21 points and Elisha Dunlap and Felicia Sunden finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Beloit followed that up with a locked-in performance on Saturday, which saw them lead for the final 35 minutes of the 40-minute game. The Buccaneers pulled away in the final quarter, which saw them outscore Alma 20-6 in what was a balanced attack. Five Beloit players scored in double figures, led by Hadja Bayo, who scored 16 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Kalk and Welte each finished with 15 points, with Welte making a trio of 3-pointers.
