Buccaneer relay squads highlighted the team's performance at the UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday. Both of Beloit's 4x200 squads recorded the top times at the meet.
On the women's side,
Jordyn McDonald ran the opening leg of the 4x200 followed by
Alayna Furch,
Montana McMahon and
Jaeonie Echols for a clocking of 1:51.76 for gold.
Ajani Joseph set the pace on the men's relay and was joined by
Ahmasi Martin, Alex Atou and
Brandon Joly to take first with a time of 1:33.57. Three additional Buccaneer relays ran the 4x200 as exhibitions.
McDonald, Furch, and McMahon led out for the closer
Candis Damste to cross the line in 4:29.44 and finish fourth in the 4x400.
Individually, a number of Buccaneers recorded top 10 finishes at the meet. McDonald posted the highest individual finish with a clocking of 27.25 in the 200. Furch was right behind her teammate to finish sixth, just .13 back.
Carter Browne and
Maggie Baugh finished sixth and seventh led by Browne's 23:22.98 in the 5,000.
Rose Loos-Austin tallied a seventh-place finish with a time of 1:08.31 in the 400 while
Marianna Carus registered another seventh with a time of 2:40.65 in the 800.
Aspen Valentine rounded out the top 10 finishers for the women with a clocking of 5:56.35 in the mile.
Brandon Joly paced the men with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump after recording a leap of 11.44 meters (37-6.50). Joseph recorded an eighth-place finish in the 200 after stopping the clock in 23.45.
Diontia Charles also captured a top 10 finish with a long jump of 5.77 meters (18-11.25) for ninth.
