Thursday Recap: Five Buc Teams in Action

| Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 Thursday was a busy day with five Beloit College athletic programs competing. The Strong Stadium Complex hosted a baseball doubleheader against Ripon and a men's lacrosse game against Aurora. Meanwhile, the Buccaneer track and field program competed at the Warrior Invitational hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College and the softball team headed to Mount Vernon, Iowa to take on Cornell College for a twinbill. Below are highlights from the loaded day of competition.

BASEBALL
Game One - Ripon 8, Beloit 10 (10 inn.)
  • Garrison Ferone hit a walkoff, two-run homer to win the game in the bottom of the tenth inning
  • The Bucs blasted 15 hits led by Miles Souza's 4-for-6 game at the plate that included a triple
  • Souza also picked up the win on the mound tossing 1.2 innings of shutout relief while striking out two
Game Two - Ripon 15, Beloit 4 (8 inn.)
  • Ripon's offense came out hot plating 11 runs in the first three innings
  • Brett Kiger tagged a two-run shot in the fourth; Greg Nelson also homered in the inning
  • Eamon Burke suffered the loss on the mound
WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD
MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD SOFTBALL
Game One - Cornell 6, Beloit 14 (5 inn.)
  • Beloit blasted three homers with Sidda Meyers, Kaitlynn Taft and Maddie Moser all getting in on the long ball action
  • Taft led the Bucs at the plate going 3-for-4 with a double and four-bagger for a total of six RBI and two runs scored
  • Maddy Pfortmiller picked up the win in the circle to improve to 7-6
Game Two - Cornell 17, Beloit 5 (5 inn.)
  • The Cornell offense exploded in the nightcap plating 11 runs in the second and third innings
  • The Bucs were held to seven hits, all by different hitters, bolstered by a double from Stephannie Lopez
  • Cora Aubert suffered the loss in the circle as Helena Harrison and Kit Kronberger also saw action on the mound in game two
MEN'S LACROSSE
  • The Bucs fell to the NACC leader Aurora 22-2 Thursday
  • Will Palmer netted the first goal with 12:12 on the clock in the first; Jordan Rice picked up Beloit's second goal of the game on an unassisted score in the third
  • Eric Seo made 24 saves in net for Beloit, the second-most for a goalie in a game in program history
