The Beloit College baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Wheaton College Saturday afternoon falling 12-5 in the opener and 15-7 in the nightcap.
Evan Zenger continued to rake with his third multi-hit game in the last four. He opened the scoring for the Buccaneers with a two-RBI single to left field in the bottom of the first.
James Wicker added a RBI base-on-balls later in the frame followed by a fielder's choice that gave the Bucs a 4-0 lead after one inning of play.
The Thunder responded with six unanwered runs before Zenger came up big again with another single that allowed
Garrison Ferone to score to make it 6-5 Wheaton in the fourth.
Wheaton's defense would hold the Bucs off the board the rest of the way.
Zenger and
Miles Souza each registered a pair of hits and combined for three runs batted in and two runs scored.
Jacob Sligar suffered the loss on the mound in four innings of work.
The Thunder flipped the script on Beloit in game two plating five in the top of the first. Beloit responded with a pair in the bottom of the frame with Zenger and
Brett Kiger singling in runs.
Jimmy Yanow blasted a ball that sailed over the left field wall to pull the Bucs to within two, 5-3 in the second but Wheaton responded with a three-run blast in the next inning. The Thunder widened the gap to 11-5.
Souza's RBI double to left field and a passed ball tallied the final two runs of the contest for Beloit.
Kiger had a monster game going 4-5 at the plate with three RBI and a run scored. Ferone, Zenger and Yanow also posted multiple hits in the game.
Souza was saddled with the loss in three innings of work.
