The Beloit College track and field teams competed in the Meet of Champions hosted by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois Saturday. The Buccaneer women finished seventh while the men were ninth at the meet.
Madelein Holicky led Beloit as the top finisher in the 5000 crossing the line in 24:02.05. Basketball teammates
T'Aira Boyance and Liz Kalk also shined in their fortes on the track Saturday. The pair each captured silver with Boyance registering a time of 12.51 in the 100-meter dash and Kalk posting a height of 1.57 meters in the high jump.
Alayna Furch was clocked in 1:02.82 in the 400 while
Hannah Welte crossed the line in 1:10.77 in the 400 hurdles. Both finished fourth in their events.
Boyance added a seventh-place finish in the 200 with a time of 25.84 followed by teammate
Jordyn McDonald just over two-tenths of a second back.
Brandon Joly had the top individual finish for the Buc men with a time of 52.10 for ninth in the 400.
Ajani Joseph was eleventh in the 200 with a clocking of 22.62.
Emiliano Reyes was also eleventh with a toss of 40.49 meters in the discus.
Ahmasi Martin followed suit with a leap of 5.95 meters in the long jump.
The women's 4x100 meter relay was the top relay finisher. The Bucs' combination finished just off the podium with a time of 49.43 for fourth. The top men's relay was Beloit's clocking of 43.49 in the 4x100 that was good for seventh.
